Designer Education Series
With the introduction of the Designer Education Series in
2005, BSI began a brand new approach to providing solid
educational programming to the design community. The Designer
Education Series is a full-day program for designers that
provides insight into the entire process of specifying stone
on a project. From quarrying the stone through the care and
maintenance of the stone, attendees enjoy six hours of stone
training. The program is registered with AIA and attendees are
given 6 CEU’s HSW for attending. A full schedule of the DES
program is provided and updated on a regular basis in our
News and Events section of the site.
Study Tour / Annual Convention
Building Stone Institute provides numerous opportunities
throughout the year for member firms to get additional
educational opportunities. The two largest events are the
Annual Convention and the
Study Tour. The Annual Convention
features business meetings, committee meetings, and
classroom based presentations. The Study Tour is more of a
hands-on educational opportunity. At the Study Tour, attendees
see how other members of the BSI run their businesses and have
an opportunity to take home new ideas and tips. Both events
have a heavy amount of networking among the members, and this
provides some of the best education available in the industry.
See video highlights of the educational sessions at the 2010 BSI Annual
Convention in Austin, Texas. Purchase the entire six-session DVD for
$150.00 (BSI Members Only). That's just $25 per presentation and over
six hours of recorded educational content!
Take advantage of this important benefit of your BSI membership. DVD
presentations include:
Developing your own Designer Education Series program
Increase the contribution of natural stone in Sustainable Design
How to handle increasing MSHA citations
Understand the developing standard and certification for natural stone
products
These topics are too important to our industry to ignore!
